The blaze triggered massive plumes of thick, black smoke that blanketed large parts of the city, especially the western district of Mazzeh.
The fire, which appeared sudden and unexplained at first, caused immediate concern due to the palace’s high-security profile and symbolic prominence. However, state-run media quickly clarified that the flames erupted in a kitchen located within one of the palace’s surrounding gardens—not inside the palace structure itself.
